Kate Pankhurst's fantastic picture book about inspirational women through history has been turned into a musical! The design was influenced by Kate's beautiful book cover. I love her quirky typography, and the sense of movement and energy in her design, so my task was to inject a bit of musical theatre panache into it. The musical is aimed at girls aged 8-14ish - we wanted it to appeal to the young audiences, but still to feel like quite a grown up experience. The final design (far right), deviates furthest from the original book cover, but still retains a little of Kate's energy in the typography.
